How to Prepare for a Fence Estimate
Four simple steps to ensure your free on-site consultation goes smoothly.
Scheduling a free estimate with ACE Fence Company is the first step toward securing and beautifying your property. To help us provide the most accurate quote possible, here are four things you can do to prepare before our estimator arrives.
1. Know Your Property Lines
We want to ensure your new fence is built exactly where it belongs—on your property. If you have a recent survey or a plot plan from when you purchased your home, have it ready. If you aren't sure where the exact pins are, try to locate them or discuss boundaries with your neighbors beforehand to avoid disputes.
2. Understand the Utility Situation
In Arkansas, hitting an underground utility line is dangerous and expensive. While ACE Fence will always coordinate with Arkansas 811 to mark public utilities before we dig, you should be aware of any private lines. This includes sprinkler system lines, private gas lines to grills/pools, or outdoor lighting wires.
3. Check Your HOA Rules
If you live in a planned subdivision in Fort Smith, Greenwood, or Van Buren, your Homeowners Association likely has strict guidelines regarding fences. Common restrictions include:
- Maximum fence heights (e.g., no higher than 6 feet).
- Approved materials (e.g., wood or vinyl only; no chain link).
- Setback requirements from sidewalks or corners.
Having your HOA covenant handy will help us design a compliant fence.
4. Think About Your Goals
What is the primary purpose of the fence? Is it for a new puppy? Privacy from the street? Pool safety? Knowing your goal helps our estimators recommend the perfect material and layout. Also, think about where you need gates and how wide they should be (e.g., a standard walk gate vs. a wide double gate for a riding mower).
